“Lines” by Jorielle Pablo

Lines

Before capturing this photo, I was fascinated by the alignment of the cranes and how they peek through linked cables. Initially, when I think of “lines” I see boundaries, borders, constraints. Lines seem impenetrable as if there were no possibility for growth. This image illustrates the phase in my life as a young adult attempting to make sense of the future. The thought of what lies in your path can be intimidating. It hangs over your head similar to a massive tower crane that refuses to be ignored. However, there is a transformation happening in this photo which prevails over restrictive lines. It is a reflection of how life at least in this moment is a work in progress. For me, it means having the opportunity to continue building on myself and improving the kind of person I hope to be someday.
