Wasps.

Poem by Amy Gill

I was supposed to stand still

You were supposed to leave me alone.

I didn’t even breathe as you crawled over my feet and knees

I kept my eyes wide open

As you hovered and buzzed so close to my face

The vibrations penetrated my skull.

Why did you not hesitate?

Before building a nest in someone else’s walls

Why did you not see that I was afraid?

And let me go—

Ambarsariya, mundiya ve kachi kaliya na tor.
